It’s time for MOVIE MARATHONS! I just got out from the cinema at Genting, after watching the first movie during this trip, the Green Lantern, in 3D version. Well?
This movie is starred by the guy who became the sexiest man alive after divorcing with his pretty wife, Scarlett Johansson, and he is none other than Ryan Reynolds! And yes yes, I do like him, especially in another movie, The Proposal, starring Sandra Bullock. He’s cute, really cute, sexy maybe, but yes, definitely cute. Hmm…
Alright, I better snapped out of that and back to the movies. Okay, this movie is based on comic characters. As for the story line, as usual, I’m not one who really reads a lot of comics so I’m not too sure if it’s the same. Anyway, Ryan Reynolds, known as Hal Jordan in the movie, is of course, the main character.
At the start of this movie, it narrates on some of the background information on the green lantern corps (the corporation that maintains peace in the universe), and their enemy (Parallax), who was imprisoned by one green lantern, called Abin Sur. Then one day, Parallax managed to escape and started to destroy planets and green lanterns, and became stronger each day. Six months after his escape, he found Abin Sur and injured him, who then later crashed into Earth. That’s where Abin Sur commanded his ring to find a worthy candidate to replace him. And the ring found Hal Jordan.
Hal, a test pilot, was then taken by the ring and transported to the crashed site. Abin Sur then told him to take the lantern and speak the oath, which he did after that, and thus, he too, became a green lantern. He was later brought to the planet of the green lantern where he was told about the story of the green lantern, who uses the green power of will. Parallax, on the other hand, uses the yellow power of fear.
At the same time, Abin Sur’s body was transported to a lab for testing (after Hal ran away from the crashed site), which causes an infection on a professor whom Hal knows. With all the twist of events, Hal finally decided to take up the responsibility and fight with Parallax.
Boring? Well, I guess it really depends on individuals. I’ve heard people commenting that it’s a lousy movie, as well as a not too bad one. For me, I find that it’s not so bad. I mean, to me, it’s a superhero kind of movie, so probably I ain’t really looking out for the story line, after all, its all fantasies right?
As for the action, it wasn’t too bad though it felt rather impossible at times, but then again, it’s supposed to be a superhero kind of movie right?
So, all I can say is, if you like all the superhero’s movie, yes, please go and watch it. Otherwise, you can skip. I’ll give it a 4 out of 5 for the cute Ryan Reynolds. *LMAO*
