Food – Tzi Char @ Jln Bt Merah

Okay, here I am again, at this coffeeshop. But today, I’m getting my food from this Tzi Char stall, the only one that remains standing after the renovation. Does that means it’s good?

Well, I condemned this stall about 2-3 years ago, after my first try. Why? Because there’s a caterpillar inside the vegetables. FYI, caterpillars (or the worms family), are my WORST nightmare. The sight of it will leave me totally┬ánumb or screaming my head off… Scoleciphiobia… yes, probably I have a mild condition for that. But that’s a story for another day.

Anyway, today, I’m here again because my future MIL wasn’t feeling too well and didn’t want to have dinner at too far a place. So, again we ordered. And to be honest, other than the caterpillar, the food actually tasted rather nice. We ordered quite a few dishes for just the 3 of us but probably it’s really bad timing…

We waited for at least 20 minutes before our rice and┬áthe first dish came – fried omelette. Then we ate and waited for another 10 minutes before one of the staff came running out and told us that the stove broke down, and they are trying to fix it. Then finally after another (what seems like) 15 minutes, the other dish came. And that’s how it goes, every interval between dishes was at least 10-15 minutes, with our soup ordered wrongly.

Yet, another bad experience. But nonetheless, the food tasted quite alright. And it’s cheap! Okay, not expensive, comparatively to other Tze Char stall.

Where? Blk 146 Jln Bukit Merah. The one where a lot of cab drivers came. But recently, that number seems to have dropped. I wondered why…
