OH MY GOD! Is this a day for reflections or what?
Was talking to my admin, and telling her sometimes it’s quite fun to just type your name in Google, and see what you can find. And that’s what I did – I found my website that I created almost 10 years ago. Now, it’s still on the web. Amazingly.
How time flies huh? Almost 10 years ago, I was still 23 then and bought my first digital camera. Of course, it has got to be a Canon. Although the camera did die in a terrible way…
It was a fine day, and my friends and I were so tired after a day of touring the Singapore Zoo, and were now resting at the Cosy Bay (doesn’t exist anymore) located at the Kallang River. And then, I took out my camera and looked through the photos. A friend then said that he wanted to see and so I passed the camera to him. And after viewing all of it, he reached out his hand and passed it back to me. I reached out, but before I could grabbed hold of it properly, he had already let go of the camera, and the next thing I knew… the camera dropped and hit the floor, and then bounced a little and fell from level 4 to the slanted “roof” of level 1, and slid down till it’s a metre away before it dropped into the river. Oh, did I mention that we were sitting near the edge? Sigh… anyway, a kind and courageous staff slowly went onto the roof and took it back for me. I’m thankful for that but the camera was more or less gone after that. Luckily, though, I managed to get those photos back.
Well, that was definitely something memorable and I hope it’s not going to happen to any of my cameras from now on.
And then of course, there’s all the heartbreaks, depression, binging of food, recovery, stupid things that I did and all, which made me who I am today. I’m glad though, that all those events (good or bad) happened as I’m quite satisfied with my thinking and doings as of now, now. That’s what they called the “GROWING PROCESS”, I guess (and I’m still growing but perferably in a more intelligent way). “What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger” – applies to me thoroughly.
Anyway, nice to see this and all but I’ve got a problem now… how do I removed it from the website? Hmm…
P/S: Once in a while, it’s always good to think back on how life was, when you were still young. And maybe in the future, you can share it with your children. But whether they listen it or not, that’s entirely up to them. After all… did you listen to your parents when they told you theirs? ^^
